Letupan bom di pasar Narathiwat, 18 cedera

NARATHIWAT 31 Julai – Sekurang-kurangnya 18 orang termasuk seorang bayi berusia enam bulan cedera dalam letupan bom di sebuah pasar yang sibuk di tengah wilayah ini, pagi ini.

Menurut jurucakap polis, bom berkenaan dipercayai disembunyikan di dalam sebuah motosikal dan diaktifkan dari jauh dengan telefon bimbit.

Para saksi memberitahu, mereka ternampak seorang remaja meletakkan motosikal berkenaan di kawasan pasar itu awal pagi ini.

Bom tersebut dikatakan meletup sebaik sahaja dua orang askar melalui kawasan berkenaan.

“Letupan itu menyebabkan 18 orang terpaksa dimasukkan ke hospital dengan dua daripadanya parah,’’ kata jurucakap polis.

Keganasan di tiga buah wilayah selatan negara ini masih berterusan walaupun selepas pemimpin sebuah kumpulan pemisah mengumumkan gencatan senjata, dua minggu lalu.

Bagaimanapun pihak tentera menafikan gencatan senjata tersebut dan mendakwa kumpulan tersebut bukannya kumpulan pemisah utama di selatan.

Lebih 3,300 penduduk dan pihak keselamatan menjadi mangsa keganasan di wilayah Narathiwat, Yala dan Pattani sejak pihak pemisah melancarkan semula gerakan pembebasan pada Januari 2004.

Pihak polis dan tentera serta penduduk yang didakwa sebagai `tali barut’ kerajaan sering menjadi sasaran pengganas. – AFP
