Pengganas serang 2 masjid, 80 maut


LAHORE, Pakistan 28 Mei – Sekumpulan lelaki bersenjata menyerang dua buah masjid milik pengikut mazhab minoriti di Lahore ketika umat Islam mengerjakan solat Jumaat menyebabkan sekurang-kurangnya 80 orang terbunuh.

Sumber rasmi berkata, serangan itu yang disifatkan paling berbahaya di bandar kedua terbesar Pakistan, yang sering menjadi sasaran serangan Taliban dan rangkaian al-Qaeda, skuad militan itu menggempur dewan sembahyang, melepaskan tembakan dengan senapang dan melempar bom tangan sebelum meculik beberapa orang jemaah.

Kedua-dua masjid terbabit adalah kepunyaan kumpulan Ahmadi yang juga dikenali sebagai Qadiani, yang mempunyai berpuluh ribu pengikut.

Kumpulan hak asasi utama di Pakistan berkata, komuniti itu sering menerima ancaman di Lahore sejak lebih setahun lalu.

“Pengganas-pengganas telah menyerang dua masjid. Mereka melepaskan tembahan dan melempar bom tangan. Mereka turut menahan jemaah yang berada di dalam masjid sebagai tebusan,” kata pegawai pertahanan awam daerah itu, Muzhar Ahmed kepada AFP dari tempat kejadian di kawasan sibuk Garhi Shahu.

Serangan itu berlaku lebih dua jam apabila penyerang bertempur dengan anggota polis serta komando sehingga melarat ke kawasan penduduk berdekatan dan pasukan perkhidmatan penyelamat telah dipanggil ke tempat kejadian untuk menyelamatkan mangsa.

Sebanyak 16 jemaah terbunuh ddalam serangan di masjid kedua di kawasan penempatan di Bandar Model berdekatan. – AFP.
