Banjir buruk di Bangladesh korbankan 55 orang

COX’S BAZAAR, Bangladesh 17 Jun – Pasukan penyelamat Bangladesh mengharungi jalan raya yang terhalang dan banjir untuk mengedarkan bantuan kecemasan ke kawasan pedalaman yang dilanda tanah runtuh mengorbankan 55 orang.

Para pegawai berkata, bekalan makanan kering dan alat pembersihan air diedarkan kepada beribu-ribu mangsa yang kehilangan tempat tinggal ekoran hujan lebat terburuk dalam tempoh sedekad yang melanda tenggara negara Bangladesh yang bersempadankan dengan Myanmar itu.

“Setakat ini, di daerah Cox’s Bazaar sahaja seramai 50 orang mati dan sekurang-kurangnya 34 yang lain cedera, kebanyakannya parah,” kata pentadbir daerah, Giasuddin Ahmed kepada AFP.

Menurut polis, lima mangsa lagi mati di kawasan penduduk padat di daerah Bandarban.

Sementara di Myanmar, kira-kira 40 orang dilaporkan hilang dan lebih 2,000 orang dipindahkan dalam banjir yang melanda bandar Maungdaw di negeri Rakhine, sempadan Bangladesh, kata pegawai tentera negara itu. – AFP
