MANAMA 19 Feb.

– REUTERS

‘Army massacring Bahraini protesters’

The Bahraini military has opened machinegun fire on protesters who were trying to reach hospital, injuring hundreds, in what appears to be an attempted massacre, medics say.

The Army has prevented ambulances and medics from reaching those wounded amid massive pro-democracy protests in Bahrain, Dr. Ghasam, a resident at Salmaniyeh hospital in Manama, told Press TV on Friday.

He said that the protesters were marching to hospital in silence to visit those wounded in the previous rallies, when they were ambushed by troops waiting near the hospital.

“They did not even chant anti-government slogans, they wanted to visit those injured on Thursday,” Dr. Ghasem said.

He maintained that the massacre was planned in advance.

“We need help! Our staff is entirely overwhelmed. They are shooting at people’s heads. Not at the legs. People are having their brains blown out,” Dr. Ghasam said.

He also compared the situation at the hospital to a war zone.

Bahraini lawmaker Ali al-Aswad, who was at the hospital at the time of incident, also told Press TV that the army has prevented the medical staff from reaching those injured and urged the Bahraini authorities to stop killing their own people.

According to the Bahraini lawmaker, nearly 700 army troops are stationed near the hospital.

Following the violence, Bahrain’s crown prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa promised to start a national dialogue, once calm returns.

The Friday shooting came after a funeral procession held for those killed on Thursday turned into pro-democracy protests with a turnout of tens of thousands, which is unprecedented over the past few weeks.

Four pro-democracy protesters were killed and 231 others wounded after riot police raided the protest camp in the early hours of Thursday, when most of the demonstrators were sleeping, in an attempt to clear capital’s main square from demonstrators.

Bahrain forces fire at protesters

Troops open live fire around Pearl roundabout in Manama after nightfall, at least 66 wounded.

Shots were fired by soldiers around Pearl roundabout in Manama, the Bahraini capital, a day after police forcibly cleared a protest encampment from the traffic circle.

The circumstances of the shooting after nightfall on Friday were not clear. Officials at the main Salmaniya hospital said at least 66 people were injured, some with gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

Some doctors and medics on emergency medical teams were in tears as they tended to the wounded. X-rays showed bullets still lodged inside victims.

“This is a war,” said Dr. Bassem Deif, an orthopedic surgeon examining people with bullet-shattered bones.

Protesters described a chaotic scene of tear gas clouds, bullets coming from many directions and people slipping in pools of blood as they sought cover.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, asked his crown prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa to start a national dialogue “with all parties”.

Earlier on state TV the crown prince had called for calm, saying it was “time for dialogue, not fighting”.

“The dialogue is always open and the reforms continue,” Sheikh Hamad al-Khalifa said on Bahrain TV.

“We need to call for self-restraint from all sides, the armed forces, security men and citizens,” he said. “I urge you, there should be calm. Now is time for calm.”

Jalal Firooz, of the Wefaq bloc that resigned from parliament on Thursday, said demonstrators had been elsewhere in the city, marking the death of a protester killed earlier this week. The demonstrators then made for the roundabout, where army troops are deployed.

A doctor of Salmaniya hospital told Al Jazeera that the hospital is full of severely injured people after the latest shootings.

“We need help! Our staff is entirely overwhelmed. They are shooting at people’s heads. Not at the legs. People are having their brains blown out,”  a distraught Dr Ghassan said, describing the chaos at the hospital as something close to a war zone.Aljazeera

Pembunuhan Beramai-ramai oleh Tentera – ulama terkenal Bahrain, Sheikh Qassem Issa

Mereka Sengaja Menembak Untuk Membunuh – Doktor

Army kills up to 30 in Bahrain

The number of dead was put at between 10 and 30, but it was difficult to establish the full extent of fatalities and injuries. There were also claims that paramedics were being prevented by state security forces from treating the wounded as they lay on the streets in front of army tanks.

One doctor said that the army was “shooting to kill” because most of the injured had suffered shots to the head and chest.

Bahrains most revered Shia cleric, Sheikh Issa Qassem, described the police attack as a “massacre” and said that the government had shut the door to dialogue. He stopped short of calling openly for street protests.

Late yesterday, King Hamad al-Khalifa announced that he had asked the crown prince to start a national dialogue “with all parties” to resolve the crisis.. more irishtimes.com

Anti-Gaddafi protesters seize Libyan city

Pro-democracy protesters have reportedly taken control over the eastern Libyan city of al-Baida as anti-Gaddafi regime rallies escalate across the North African country.

Two Libyan exile groups say the takeover came after some local police joined the protesters. Clashes are reportedly under way as government militias have been deployed to the area following the incident to re-take the city.

Libyans have taken to the streets across the country on what they call the “day of anger.” The protesters want an end to the long rule of Muammar Gaddafi.

The opposition says at least 30 people were killed in the crackdown. According to medical sources, 14 died in Libya’s second-largest city, Benghazi.

The opposition has accused the government of arming African migrants in the north to shoot pro-democracy protesters.

Meanwhile Gaddafi’s supporters have held a pro-government rally in the capital, Tripoli. The 63-year-old leader, who has ruled the country for 41 years, reportedly attended the rally.

Meanwhile, human rights group Amnesty International has also urged the Libyan government to stop its crackdown on peaceful demonstrations.

  3. tah suka

  4. bro n sis………

penyakit dari medan tahrir kian dok bejangkit………
la nie dah berjangkit ke pearl square pulak…….
aku teruja ngan satu bait ayat dlm posting nie……

mai laa sapa ganti pun……..kalau yg ganti pun dok guna ‘modus operandi’ yg sama……bukan kata koi elok…..koi parah lagi ada laaa…………

dulu dulu tu….si ‘lanun’ qaddafi nie laa yg anti sangat ngan laknat amerika toh……..dia dianggap ‘hero’ libya laa masa tu…….dah berapa kali amerika ‘attack’ dia……tapi nyawa dia ‘liat’ lagi…….
qaddafi nie rasanya dah tubuh klab ‘panca sitara’ ka?………memanjang pakai ‘spek gelap’ toh…kah kah kah….

masalah yg sebenarnya…..figura yg aku sebut tu bukan laa masalah sangat…..yg jadi problemnya semua depa tu….masih kekal dok terap ‘sistem kufur’…..
kat ‘sini’ pun apa kurangnya???…….dua kali lima mcm puak ataih tadi toh………
    so n so……..ini yg patut dihentikan…digantikan……

Hang tau ka budak tongong tu, anak bekeh ketua cwangan UMnGoK Taman kat Ipoh.. sampai mampoih dia bole terima komen kita.. Akidah Umno turun temurun mai dari padang golf tuu…. membaca pakai pala lutut…

      • kk……..

padan pun budak nie liat ketegaq sangat……..
benda hitam pun mati-mati dia kata putih…….
        borek sikit saja………dia nie lebih-lebih rintik…..
        mcm rimau kumbang daaa……..

        ropanya pekat piang………

        kah kah kah………..

    • Salam nasik kandaq.

      Hang tulih panjang2.
      Sapa nak baca.

Kalau baca pon, orang tak paham.
      Dok gelong, melelong.
      Seperti great chief dok kata.

      Kalau Kucing Kota baca pon.
      Dia renung renung lah.

ALLAH DIDAHULUKAN, TAQWA DIUTAMAKAN – BOB LOKMAN……..

        alhamdilillah…..
sapa sangka pintu rahmatNya sekali lagi diketuk……..

hangpa tengok bagaimana beliau mengungkapkan kata-kata berikut……….di perhimpunan 30K pemuda PAS di Markaz Pas…batu 9 Kota Sarang Semut……….
meleleh ayaq mata aku melihat ‘cantik’ nya Bob Lokman sekarang……..

coba hangpa kaitkan sikit ngan tajuk kat ataih tu ngan apa yg adik Bob Lokman cakap toh……..
sapa tak pergi Batu 9 KSS….kigha rugi besaq jugak laaa…….

        KK !!…..
Budak kita kat ataih tu sure tak pi punya……….
